What issues will PoorMansLobbyist.org tackle?

PoorMansLobbyist.org will focus on issues that impact families and individual voters, not what will get help increase profits at already profitable corporations. There are already plenty of politicians and lobbyists focused there. An initial key initiative for PoorMansLobbyist.org will be to finally make it illegal to deny prescribed health care for kids with autism and other developmental disabilities. Most states today allow insurance companies and self-insured employers to discriminate against developmentally disabled children, and our lawmakers have been silent on this for years. A parent of a child with autism unfortunately doesn't have the same influence as a lobbyist for a health insurance company, even though one is focused on improving a life, while the other is focused on greed.

How will PoorMansLobbyist.org make a difference?

Thanks to new and recent disclosure laws, it is possible to now discover the conflicts of interest that have harmed our democracy in recent times. Those same politicians that vote against healthcare for kids with autism, for example, frequently have large donations from health insurance companies. In other words, the health insurance companies are able to "buy" the vote of your Congressman, so that your family keeps suffering while corporate profits hit new records. But the average citizen isn't aware of these conflicts of interest, and we plan to put a stop to this. By exposing purchased votes and conflicts of interest, we hope that this will restore accountability and put pressure on elected officials to again prioritize the needs of their individual voters, not the lobbyists.
